For instance, we will survey student interest and demand. We also have a close relationship with our Parent Community Council (BACC) and consider the parents\u2019 input and their requests for clubs (i.e. Mandarin language classes, Coding, Chess, Robotics, etc.). Our school\u2019s focus is to provide an inclusive space, ensuring our students have a safe environment to communicate and explore their thoughts, and feelings, and find opportunities to express their identity (i.e. Confidence Building Workshops, Toast Masters, and Open Mic \u2018Night\u2019).<\/p><p>Participating in non-sport extracurriculars benefits our students by allowing them to develop their whole selves and not merely focus on the academic component of school life. Furthermore, learning English from films is motivational and enjoyable for our students.<\/p><p>Computer Coding Club<\/p><p>Provided by Hatch Canada, the Bond Academy Community Council is once again supporting the Hatch Coding program at Bond Academy. It will be available to students in Grades 3 to 8. The students will learn how to write computer code in Javascript in a fun and engaging way.<\/p><p>Program Benefits:<\/p><ul><li>The students will learn how to write computer code in Javascript in a fun and engaging way.<\/li><li>Students will also be able to sign-in at home and continue developing their skills, showing-off to their friends and amazing their parents.<\/li><li>Hatch\u2019s self-paced and mastery-based platform allows students to choose their own projects to build from themes like Minecraft, Star Wars, Disney, Art, and more.<\/li><li>For all experience levels!<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Prom Committee<\/p><p>Prom is approaching and this year the big day is on Thursday May 31, 2018. The prom committee has devoted staff and student volunteers planning a magical evening to celebrate students&#8217; accomplishments on the &#8220;Hollywood Red Carpet&#8221;.<\/p><p>Everyone will get to dress up, enjoy a delicious dinner, play games and watch amazing talent from Bond Academy. Once we finish cheering our friends, students will be able to enjoy music and show their talent on the dance floor! Take a look at what the prom committee has been doing to fundraise for the upcoming Hollywood Red Carpet themed prom evening!<\/p><p>Drama Club<\/p><p>Drama Club is one of the most popular club at Bond. Every year, a big drama play will be presented featuring all the club members.<\/p><p>Speech Club<\/p><p>Speech club is a fun and inviting place for students to practice their public speaking skills. Students have the freedom to discuss topics of interest or help prepare for academic presentations.<\/p><p>We also discuss helpful techniques as well as analyze and discuss what makes an effective and engaging speech. We will work together to make each other more knowledgeable and confident speakers.<\/p><p>Math Club<\/p><p>Math club allows students from grades 4-8 an opportunity for enrichment. Students are welcome twice a week to come and challenge their math skills in a individual or group setting.<\/p><p>The questions are upper grade level and often require them to use variety of math and problem solving strategies. Students who wish to participate will be able to take part in the annual Mathematica and Waterloo contest. These contest are national which lets them compete against their peers all across Canada.<\/p><p>Board Games Club<\/p><p>Members of the Board Games Club meet weekly to work together and challenge each other by playing a variety of board games of their choice.<\/p><p>The club is a great way for students to make new friends, have fun, and enjoy some healthy competition. It is also an engaging way for students in our ESL programs to strengthen their English communication skills.<\/p><p>Library and Cross Curricular Events<\/p><p>Bond Academy&#8217;s library is an open, inviting space for all our students. It is the perfect place to catch up on the latest reads and relax among our comfortable chairs, couches and warm atmosphere. The library is fully-equipped with KOBOS, a MAC computer lab, projector and printers. Our school librarians, are available Monday to Friday to help students pick their next great read or to find the next resource for that big assignment or project.<\/p><p>The library also hosts cross curricular events at lunchtime, such as the CHESS club, a STEM club, and a BOOK club. The library also partakes in the monthly Scholastic Reading Club and Scholastic Book Fairs. It will be available to students in Grades 3 to 8. The prom committee has devoted staff and student volunteers planning a magical evening to celebrate students&#8217; accomplishments on the &#8220;Hollywood Red Carpet&#8221;.<\/p><p>Everyone will get to dress up, enjoy a delicious dinner, play games and watch amazing talent from Bond Academy. Once we finish cheering our friends, students will be able to enjoy music and show their talent on the dance floor! Every year, a big drama play will be presented featuring all the club members.<\/p><p>Speech Club<\/p><p>Speech club is a fun and inviting place for students to practice their public speaking skills. Students have the freedom to discuss topics of interest or help prepare for academic presentations.<\/p><p>We also discuss helpful techniques as well as analyze and discuss what makes an effective and engaging speech. We will work together to make each other more knowledgeable and confident speakers.<\/p><p>Math Club<\/p><p>Math club allows students from grades 4-8 an opportunity for enrichment. Students are welcome twice a week to come and challenge their math skills in a individual or group setting.<\/p><p>The questions are upper grade level and often require them to use variety of math and problem solving strategies. Students who wish to participate will be able to take part in the annual Mathematica and Waterloo contest. These contest are national which lets them compete against their peers all across Canada.<\/p><p>Board Games Club<\/p><p>Members of the Board Games Club meet weekly to work together and challenge each other by playing a variety of board games of their choice.<\/p><p>The club is a great way for students to make new friends, have fun, and enjoy some healthy competition. It is also an engaging way for students in our ESL programs to strengthen their English communication skills.<\/p><p>Library and Cross Curricular Events<\/p><p>Bond Academy&#8217;s library is an open, inviting space for all our students. It is the perfect place to catch up on the latest reads and relax among our comfortable chairs, couches and warm atmosphere. The library is fully-equipped with KOBOS, a MAC computer lab, projector and printers. Our school librarians, are available Monday to Friday to help students pick their next great read or to find the next resource for that big assignment or project.<\/p><p>The library also hosts cross curricular events at lunchtime, such as the CHESS club, a STEM club, and a BOOK club. The library also partakes in the monthly Scholastic Reading Club and Scholastic Book Fairs.
